When the local weather reaches zero degrees or colder we will automatically salt or brine your roads and sidewalks.

Do you salt and/or brine prior to a snow storm

Yes! If Environment Canada issues a snowfall warning we will salt or brine your property prior to the snow fall. This helps prevent ice or snow buildup and help keep your site safe.

When do you plow?

When the snow has accumulated at least 2" (5cm) we will automatically plow your roads and sidewalks. We will always salt the roads and sidewalks after we have cleared the snow.

What if less than 2” of snowfalls?

We will salt your roads and sidewalks to prevent ice and keep your site safe.

What is Brine?

Salt brine is a solution of salt and water that has a freezing point lower than water alone. This means salt brine can reduce snow and ice adhering to road surfaces.

Will salt on the sidewalks burn my dog’s paws?

No. We use Ice Melt on the sidewalks and pathways that is safe for people and pets and is eco-friendly for plants, trees and turf.

What happens during a normal snowfall event?

Overnight, our Winter Operations Manager will monitor the weather conditions. If a winter storm develops, the Winter Operations Manager will call in the crews to start plowing and salting late into the evening. With this schedule the roadways and sidewalks should be safe for use in time for the morning work and school commutes.

What happens during non-routine snowfall events?

A heavy storm that develops quickly into the morning hours can cause significant accumulation before the crews can finish their routes. This is also the case for severe snow storms that continue over a period of a few days. We have no control over the timing of winter events therefore occasionally a late start for the plow crews are unavoidable. We recognize that these situations are frustrating to residents and will do everything possible to clear your sites as quickly and safely as possible.
